“Ask A Career Coach” – Free career coaching service offered by me – I choose some of the best questions submitted and then I answer them for my column.

Between Jobs Ministry at Northwest Bible Church – Free, Christ-centered support ministry open to all job seekers. Their site says they “provide encouragement, information, networking assistance, spiritual guidance, and training sessions in a Christian setting.” Located in Spring, TX.

Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. – Nonprofit United Way agency serving clients with employment challenges (older age, illiteracy, disabilities, homelessness, lack of skills, substance abuse, and at-risk behavior).

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Learning Express Libraries – An online resource that provides interactive practice exams for a variety of studies, from elementary grades to college, as well as tutorials that help adults improve computer skills, create job search materials, or prepare for career exams.

Goodwill Houston Job Connection Resources – Training, education and job-related services to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

Houston Area Urban League – Offers Workforce Orientation workshop for job search readiness and a Job Search Club for active job seekers.

Houston Community College – Assessment, career counseling, and personal counseling for Houston Community College students.

Jewish Family Service – Free job search assistance and employment workshops. Low cost counseling also available.

Job Search Survival – Outreach ministry of Sugar Creek Baptist Church. Offers free job search training. Located in Sugar Land, TX.

Jobs Ministry Southwest – Faith-based employment services; all denominations and creeds welcome. Services in Houston and Sugar Land.

Lone Star Community College Career Services – Career counseling available to the general community (you don’t have to be a student there). Locations in Cy-Fair, Kingwood, Montgomery, North Harris, and Tomball.

Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM) Job Finding Network – Free online job finding and free employment-related services and classes. Spring Branch area of Houston.

Rice University Center for Career Development – Career counseling for Rice University students and alumni.

Search Homeless Services – Agency that works to engage, stabilize, educate, employ and house individuals and families who are homeless.

SER-Jobs for Progress of the Texas Gulf Coast – Workforce and social services to the Gulf Coast region. Broad range of training programs.

Texas Workforce – State of Texas government agency charged with overseeing and providing workforce development services to employers and job seekers of Texas; Texas Workforce Centers are located throughout the Houston area (their website has a zip code search feature).

The Montrose Center – Specializing in counseling with LGBT clients. Offers a job search support group.

The WorkFaith Connection – Nonprofit organization that helps men and women begin productive lives through the gift of work. Offers an eight day job readiness workshop.

University of Houston, University Career Services – Career counseling services available for free to all currently enrolled students at UH Main Campus; services available for an affordable fee to all UH main campus alumni; limited services available via reciprocity agreement to students and alumni of other UH schools (Clear Lake, Downtown, and Victoria).

University of Houston-Clear Lake, Career Services – Full range of career development services for UH-Clear Lake students and alumni. In person services in Clear Lake and online services via the website.

University of Houston-Downtown, Career Services – Assistance with career planning and job search for UH-Downtown students and alumni.

University of St. Thomas Career Development Center – Serves students and alumni with their vocational and career learning.
